Pedalin' the Night Away

Cheryl received an early Hanuakah present this year, a Gym-quality Spin Bike. You can see her styling on her bike as she bops along to the music in the attached picture.

As you can also see, she has hair! Itty-bitty hair, but there is at least some.

Cheryl has also started back to work part-time. Good for her, bad for us. The kids and I have gotten use to the "Cleaning Fairy" swooping in and fixing that mess. We've had a lot of cleaning fairies over the last six months, and it's hard to hear that she quit. Oh well, we did it before and we can do it again.

Thank everybody for all the wonderful comments. We're glad that we found a medium that allows us to keep everyone up to date. We've still got a long road to run with two additional surgeries and a chemo treatment every three week for the foreseeable future.

Thanks again,

Us.

A Return to Normalicy

Sorry for the long delay between posts. Guess that is a sign that I am doing better.

I am recovering from my radiation burns thanks to the best nurse in the world (my husband). He is till having to dress my wounds daily, but we hope I can stop wearing the compression garment this week (its uncomfortable). It will take weeks for me to fully heal, but at least the pain is going away. My only doctors appointment for two weeks (a record for me) was on Friday when I went in for my Herceptin. It gave me a tummy ache but hey that's not too bad. I get Herceptin on the 28th of December and then sometime before I leave on vacation on January 11th. Yes - vacation. Just me and my hubby on a Caribbean cruise. We have been planning for this for over 20 months and decided to keep the trip. I so look forward to going away and forgetting I am a cancer patient for a while. There are just so many reminders here at home. Grandma and Grandpa Bolstad will babysit the kids. The end of January I will get Herceptin again and meet with my surgical oncologist. I now have to meet with all three of my oncologists (who knew there were so many) every 3 months for the first year and then every 6 months after that until I reach 5 years. On the positive side, I am going back to work part-time next week (20 hours) until January 1st. After that, I will remain an hourly employee for 2007 to accommodate all my doctors visits, surgeries and tests. I hope to work a 30 hour week, but will let my body tell me if that is too much.

I know this is a long post. I look forward to seeing all my work contacts again. Once more, thanks to all my friends and family for their support.

Will post next week and let everyone know how I am doing. Oh.. my head looks like a fuzzy cue ball. Perhaps in about 6 weeks I can go without a wig.
