Wow - It Has Been Almost Two Months....

I just realized that it has been almost two months since I last posted. I guess the adage no news is good news sort of applies. Let me recap what has happened. I had visits with all my doctors and they are pleased with my progress. My radiation oncologist does not even want to see me again until next March. Unfortunately, I still do not have a date for plastic surgery. I am hope full it will be next month or early Fall. To prepare for surgery I have an appointment with both my surgical oncologist and cardiologist at the end of July. In addition, my medical oncologist ordered both at CT scan and bone scan to make sure the cancer has not metastasized. I have completed the CT scan (all clear!!!) but not the bone scan. I am still suffering from heart problems due to Herceptin. After three treatments I have had to stop treatments again. The cardiologist upped my medication and my doctor ordered another MUGA at the end of the month. I can tell already that after one week on the new medication that I feel better. At this point I have received about half of the allotted Herceptin. The PA for the oncologist wants me to consider stopping treatment, but I refuse. Nothing like butting heads with the doctors. To make matters worse my insurance is denying paying for Herceptin stating it is not medically proven. Hmmm they paid for 4 months worth and now want to stop. I am sure it will get worked out.

On a plus note, I had a great time In Turkey and Los Angeles and our family leaves tomorrow for a two week trip to Norway - should be an adventure.
